Compatible devices

Physical compatibility can vary by model and firmware. Google-free or restricted firmware may prevent ads in the Free edition and use the built-in Biofects fallback instead. Ubiquiti does not sponsor, endorse, or support Biofects Butler.

Home Assistant

Voice features

Touch control works without voice. For voice features, configure a Home Assistant Assist pipeline with speech-to-text, conversation, and text-to-speech services as desired. These providers may be local or cloud-based. Their availability, charges, and privacy practices are controlled by your Home Assistant configuration.

Network and authentication

Butler attempts local Home Assistant discovery and also accepts a manually entered URL. Sign-in occurs through Home Assistant OAuth inside Butler. Butler does not ask for a long-lived access token or receive your Home Assistant password.

Direct installation

Until Butler returns to Google Play, install the APK downloaded from the official Biofects GitHub release repository. Android may require permission for your browser or file manager to install unknown apps. Disable that permission again after installation if you do not otherwise need it. Verify the release checksum and signing-certificate report before installing.

Website builds and future Google Play builds may have different signatures. Switching distribution channels may require uninstalling Butler first, which removes that app's local settings.

Safety requirements

Keep manufacturer controls and independent safety mechanisms available for locks, alarms, climate systems, appliances, doors, and other equipment. Butler is not suitable as the sole control or monitoring path for emergency, medical, security, or life-safety functions.
